Scarborough

A seaside town of two halves.

South Bay is the busier end, being connected to the town by a park and the cliff lift. Down at beach level, you will find amusements, rock and gift shops, plenty of cafes and restaurants as well as the harbour, RNLI station and a small funfair.

North Bay also has lots to offer including Peasholm Park, crazy golf, a miniature railway, some restaurants/cafes and The Sealife Centre

This is a smaller seaside town, but it still boasts plenty of shops and places to eat, both in the town and at beach level, as well as a Country Park, crazy golf, rides for small children and a seasonal paddling pool.

Along Coble Landing you will find gift shops, food cabins and the RNLI building.

Well-known as being key inspiration for Bram Stoker when writing his novel Dracula, Whitby hosts events such as its goth weekend and pirate festival.

You can enjoy the beach, amusements and shops, eat at one of the many fish and chip shops, restaurants or cafes or take the walk up to the Whalebone for beautiful views.

York is about an hour’s drive away from the site but is well worth the drive and there is plenty to do to fill a day, whatever the weather. You could take a walk through the famous Shambles, a narrow, cobbled lane with 14th century timber-framed buildings that hold a variety of quirky shops and if shopping is your thing there are plenty of shops around the city, ranging from big name brands to smaller independents. There is also a market with a fantastic range of stalls and street-food cabins. .

Filey Zoo

This is a lovely way to spend a few hours and is only a short drive away. Dogs on a lead are welcome so the whole family can enjoy time together.

Animals include a variety of birds plus meerkats, alpacas, reptiles and more. There is also a small café, gift shop and play area as well as picnic areas and toilets. .

Bridlington

Bridlington has two beaches; South Beach with long stretches of golden sand, great for games, or sunbathing, with a quieter vibe and a children's lido and North Beach which is a mixture of sand and shingle and sits next to a classic promenade with cafes, amusements. A great place to walk or catch the land train for a different way to see the views.
